Our Story, Vision, and Team - Learn about our journey and the people behind our mission

Background

Wolayo is a Ugandan-based non-profit organization founded by Mrs. Cieciora Sheila, a visionary leader whose personal story of resilience and faith inspired her to act. Growing up in Eastern Uganda, an area deeply affected by poverty, Sheila witnessed firsthand the struggles of children and families—broken homes, young girls giving birth before the age of 18, and the absence of father figures.

These circumstances often forced children onto the streets, robbing them of their futures. Out of this burden grew her calling: to light a candle of hope and restore dignity to underprivileged children by creating opportunities for a brighter tomorrow.

"Every child deserves a chance to dream, to hope, and to build a future filled with possibilities. This is not just our mission—it's our calling."
— Mrs. Cieciora Sheila, Founder
Our story

Our Vision

A Uganda where every child has the opportunity to thrive—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—regardless of their socio-economic background.

Our Mission

Our mission is to restore hope to underprivileged children in Uganda by breaking the cycle of poverty, nurturing strong values, and mentoring the next generation into responsible and God-centered citizens of society.

Boy Child Restoration
Special Focus

Restoring the Boy Child

At Wolayo, we recognize the critical need to restore and empower the boy child in Uganda. In many communities, boys face unique challenges—lack of positive male role models, exposure to violence, early school dropout, and limited opportunities for mentorship. These factors often lead to a cycle of poverty, delinquency, and broken futures.

Our commitment is to break this cycle by providing boys with strong mentorship, faith-based guidance, education, and life skills training. We believe that when boys are nurtured with the right values, discipline, and opportunities, they become responsible fathers, leaders, and pillars of their communities.
